HOW TO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE CITY CENTRE?

You can get from BARCELONA AIRPORT – EL PRAT to the city centre by metro, train, bus or taxi. 

Metro line number 9 (L9 Sud) connects the airport T1 and T2 with downtown Barcelona (direction: Zona Universitaria). The line has 15 stops on the way and the journey lasts about 30-35 minutes. Fares for one way (zone 1) to reach Barcelona airport from any station of Barcelona network metro costs €4.50. 

TIPS:THE METRO LINE RUNS FROM 5 A.M. TO MIDNIGHT EXCEPT FOR THE NIGHT FROM SATURDAY TO SUNDAY, WHEN IT RUNS NON-STOP. Hence, in the case you land in Barcelona on Saturday night, you do not have to worry in terms of transportation from the airport to your accommodation.

The cathedral is remarkable and its exterior, as well as its interior, are spectacular and worth to be visited.The tickets fares start from 20 euro, and a basic ticket can be purchased only online.

TIPS: TO AVOID THE LARGE LINES AT THE TICKET OFFICES THE MOST CONVENIENT IS TO PURCHASE THE TICKETS ON THE official website.

The opening times for visiting the cathedral are: November through February from 9 am to 6 pm. March from 9 am to 7 pm. April through September from 9 am to 8 pm. October from 9 am to 7 pm. 25 and 26 December, 1 and 6 January from 9 am to 2 pm.

THE PARK GÜELL

This is a wonderful park constituted of different kinds of gardens and architectonic parts, designed by Antonio Gaudi.

Inside the park, you can also visit the memorial house of the famous architect Gaudi. The Park Güell is located on Carrer d’Olot in Barcelona.

The access to the Park Guell is free of charge except for the restricted area where you can discover the most impressive artworks of Antonio Gaudi.

TIPS: ONE OF THE BIGGEST ADVANTAGES OF BUYING AN ONLINE TICKET IS THAT YOUR ACCESS TO THE BUS GÜELL IS INCLUDED. THIS SHUTTLE BUS IS QUICK, AND THE DIRECT WAY TO GET IT IS FROM THE ALFONS X METRO STATION (METRO L4). IT ONLY TAKES 15 MINUTES TO REACH PARK GÜELL.

LAS RAMBLAS

It is the major pedestrian boulevard in Barcelona which connects Plaça de Catalunya in the centre with the Christopher Columbus monument at Port Vell.

While you walk on Las Ramblas you will encounter many street performers, living statues or artists that will draw your portrait or caricature. Regularly, this area is the primary one visited by the most of tourists and in the peak season and not only you can find here crowds of tourists. The area offers lots of shops and restaurants but given the tourist frequency, it is much pricey than other sides of the city.

One of the most frequently visited spots is The La Boqueria market where you can taste the local delicacies.

PORT VELL

It is a delight to stroll along Port Vell walk side and just experience a lovely and sunny day in Barcelona! Once you get there, you have a wide range of attractions to find. You will discover COLUMBUS MONUMENT, the most eye-catching column from the area, dedicated to Cristopher Columbus after returning from his first expedition to the New World.

TIPS: INSIDE THE MONUMENT YOU CAN FIND AN ELEVATOR that brings you on top and reveals amazing views FROM 60 METRES HEIGHT above the surroundings.

MAREMAGNUM 

It is a beautiful complex that offers you lots of restaurants, sports bars, cocktail lounges and terraces overlooking the water. You can spend there a lovely afternoon if you want to recharge batteries for a few moments for sightseeing.

PORT VELL CABLE CAR 

Port Vell Cable Car offers a unique trip over the water, crosses Port Vell located in Barceloneta Beach to the Miramar Gardens located in Montjuic Mountain. The journey takes about 10 minutes and is a great experience with panoramic views and incredible heights.  

BARCELONA AQUARIUM

When you visit Barcelona, do not forget to spend an incredible experience at the Barcelona Aquarium. There you can meet the sharks or the penguins and millions of species of marine fishes. For the brave ones, Aquarium offers scuba diving experiences in the main tank, surrounded by sharks and other fish species. Barcelona Aquarium is open every day, all year round. The price of a ticket for an adult is 21 euros.

THE MONTJUIC CABLE CAR

The Montjuic is a hill in Barcelona that for ages played a strategic role in the defense of the city. 

The Montjuic Cable Car connects the bottom and summit of the Montjuic Mountain. The Montjuic cable car offers you breathtaking views of Barcelona and carries you to Montjuic Castle, an old military fortress from 1640.

THE MAGIC FOUNTAIN OF MONTJUIC

The Fountain is located 5 minutes-walk from Plaça España. It is a spectacular fountain, one of the most popular fountains that impress through its water shows, sounds, and magnificent colors.

THE CATHEDRAL OF BARCELONA 

The Cathedral of Barcelona also, known as The Cathedral of Santa Eulalia ( La Seu) is one of the major landmarks of the city.The Catedral de Barcelona is located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter at Pla Seu, 3. It’s about 150 meters from Jaume I metro station (yellow line L4) and about 350 meters from Liceu metro station (green line L3).
